Walking is the Only Exercise You Need. Walking is Enough.

When you stop looking at exercise as a way to control your weight and start thinking about exercise as a way to nourish your whole person, you can see that the one activity you do all day long is the perfect exercise.

According to Dr. Timothy Church, you don’t have to crush yourself in the gym every morning or go for a long run each day to get the benefits of exercise – you can just walk. In an interview with NPR, he stated that you’re “actually getting probably 95 percent or more of the benefits when you’re walking, as compared to jogging.” His study, published in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), showed that women who walked on a treadmill for as little as 15 minutes a day for six months gained the following benefits: lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, lower risk of heart disease and weight loss.

While physical benefits are important, they cannot occur or be sustained without the involvement of the whole person. Research shows that the heart and mind are also nourished by all-day movement that is natural, enjoyable and sustainable. It’s time to leave behind a fragmented approach to food and exercise and understand how the whole person is meant to be nourished easily and naturally with every bite and every step.
